Easy Breakfasts and Morning Time Savers

Breakfast Healthy Snacking Parenting

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day as we all know. But that doesn’t seem to matter when you have a little one who just isn’t big on breakfast foods, or when your mornings are too rushed to make a proper morning meal! So we turned to the Heart & Stroke Foundation for some quick and easy breakfast ideas. Check out their list of time saving tips and breakfast ideas where even a picky eater will find a nutritious choice they like:

Time Savers
~ Leftovers can be a great option for a healthy and nutritious breakfast. Had whole wheat pasta for dinner the night before? Warm it up for breakfast the next day. The nutrition doesn’t change.

~ Have a batch of whole-grain, low-fat muffins or breads ready in the freezer. In the morning, pair one up with a banana and yogurt.

~ Cut up fruit the night before and keep in the fridge. A great nutritious topping for yogurt or cereal.

~ Mix it up. Smoothies make a quick, tasty and nutritious breakfast. Add a little milk or yoghurt or use water. Juice tends to add unnecessary sugar so go for real fruit instead. And the fruit can even disguise some otherwise frowned upon veggies, like spinach!

~ Eat on the go. When you just have to get everyone out the door, pack fruit, whole-grain crackers and a piece of cheese for your kids to get their nutrition on the go.
